What police say happened

Officers were called to a shooting at a home on Ransom Drive shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Police said their investigation found that the man who was shot was the aggressor in a domestic violence incident involving a mother and her son.

Saban Burzic, 40, was shot in the lower body and taken to a hospital. He is charged with:

  • Third-degree domestic violence
  • Third-degree assault and battery

Shooter will not be charged

Police said the 20-year-old resident who fired the gun acted in self-defense and will not face charges.

Forest Acres Police Chief Don Robinson said in a statement that domestic violence affects entire families and can quickly become dangerous, and that officers are committed to protecting victims and holding people accountable.

The charges against Burzic are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
