Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Shots Fired at Winnsboro Motorsports Shop

A customer’s argument at a Winnsboro motorsports shop turned dangerous Monday afternoon when, deputies say, she fired a gun toward the business owner on her way out.

Fairfield County deputies were called around 3:49 p.m. Nov. 2 to Burbage Motorsports at 70 Independence Road after reports of gunfire.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, a woman had been arguing with employees inside the shop. As she was leaving, investigators say, she fired shots in the owner’s direction. The sheriff’s office has not reported anyone being hurt.

Deputies identified the woman as Ebony Arnette. She is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and was booked into the Fairfield County Detention Center. Her age has not been released, and deputies have not said what the argument was about.

The charges are accusations, and Arnette is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Robert Byrd at 803-635-4141.
