A Marlboro County man is charged with domestic violence after deputies say he poured gasoline on his wife at their home, then held off deputies in a short standoff Saturday evening, Oct. 24.
Shad Rowe is charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to Marlboro County Chief Deputy Larry Turner.
What happened
Deputies were called to a reported domestic situation at a home on Ebenezer Road in the Wallace area.
According to Turner, Rowe is accused of dousing his wife with gasoline. She was able to get out of the home without injury.
When deputies arrived, Rowe refused to let them inside, leading to a standoff that lasted about 20 minutes. Deputies negotiated with him, and he surrendered, Turner said.
Bond
Rowe was given a $50,000 surety bond and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
The charge is an accusation, and Rowe is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
