Horry County authorities are still searching for an inmate who disappeared after his ankle monitor was found on the floor of his home earlier this month.

Officials have now issued two more warrants for Kashien Willis, charging him with:

  • Escape
  • Tampering with a GPS monitor

What happened

Officials said they received an alert around 2:43 a.m. on Oct. 10 that Willis had tampered with his monitor.

Horry County’s Community Corrections and Enforcement Team responded within an hour and found the ankle monitor inside his residence. Willis was gone.

Authorities said they followed protocol by notifying Willis’ family, the victim’s family in his underlying case and witnesses, as well as surrounding law enforcement agencies and federal partners.

Few details released

Officials have not said what charges Willis was originally on the monitor for. They said releasing more details could interfere with the search.

The investigation is ongoing.

How to help

Anyone who knows where Willis may be should call 911 or the Horry County Police Department.
